-Bill co-hosts with Radio One’s (WRNB’s) Dyana Williams during the station’s first ever “Battle of the Best” radio segment. (Teddy Pendergrass battled Marvin Gaye.)
-Bill receives West Chester University’s “Drum Major for Justice” Award and Medallion.
-Bill is interviewed for the TV special, “Cezanne and Beyond” by Philadelphia’s NBC10 TV station. The special airs February 26, 2009 at 7:00pm. www.nbc10.com
2008 was a great year for Bill Jolly! Here’s a short recap of some of the highlights:
-Bill directs the music for the 3rd Annual Heritage Awards Gala with Bill Cosby.
-Bill co-writes 3 tunes, including the title track for the play “I Am Who I Am,” The Teddy Pendergrass story in Chicago.
-Bill performs nationally for the Bose Corporation’s 6th Anniversary Special on QVC.
-“Bill Jolly’s Hard Drive” headlines at WDAS’ Unity Day in Phila , opening for Kem. Bill also backs popular RnB singer Dwele in performance.
-Bill works with jazz/pop sensation Michael Buble’ in Atlantic City.
-Bill directs the 2008 Mid-Atlantic and the Chesapeake Bay Chapter Emmy Awards with Oscar winning director Barry Levinson.
-Bill assembles, conducts and arranges the orchestra for the TV special “Love Train: The Sound of Philly” for PBS/Sony Music/ Live Nation/Gamble and Huff at the Borgata in Atlantic City. The live concert special airs nationally on all PBS stations through 2010.
-Bill is MD, arranges and conducts the orchestra for the Rhythm and Blues Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Pioneer Awards.
-Bill is MD, arranges and conducts the orchestra for “Dionne Warwick and Friends” at Dover Downs.
-Bill arranges “Without You” for Labelle’s (Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendrix, Sarah Dash) studio reunion recording for Verve Records.
-Bill is MD, arranges and conducts the orchestra for Aretha Franklin’s private Xmas party in Detroit, MI.
-Aretha, after being voted “The Greatest Singer in the History of Music” by Rolling Stone Magazine asks Bill to become her new Musical Director for 2009.
-Bill is asked to direct the play “Lady Day,” the Billie Holiday story, starring Grammy and Tony Award winning vocalist D.D. Bridgewater on Broadway during 2009. Venue and dates TBA.
